Students with Special Needs
Circus Therapy Classes
Carlynn has helped my daughter so much! She has even been able to attend her regularly scheduled OT appointments and has been able to stay in a regular class room so far this year!
Thank you for offering this option to families like ours. We have very few safe spaces and really appreciate your kindness!

Under the direction of Miss Carlynn Pickens, Occupational Therapist and Circus Arts instructor, we are piloting this program to start the conversation in our community for what is needed and wanted for these students.
Circus Therapy Class will provide non-competitive opportunities for children to integrate reflexes, develop tactile, vestibular and proprioceptive senses, as well as build strength, balance, coordination and social participation.
Carlynn built a pediatric practice, “Trapeze Therapy” for children with special needs within the circus context of Canopy Studio in Athens, GA. She dedicated herself to the therapeutic use of Circus for many years and understands, first hand, the benefits.
Carlynn praises the Circus community for creating inclusive environments for the development of many skills.
“Circus can! Circus always helps one find and develop their gifts,” she boasts.
We are accepting applications and recommendations for children with special needs who can participate in a group of 4-6 students for a one hour class.
Acceptance into this program requires the written recommendation of an educator, therapist, or doctor.
Students should have at least two self regulating strategies to implement as needed in class.
We are also opening private lessons for those not qualified for the above criteria.
We know you may have many questions about this new program.
We look forward to speaking with you about how we can help your child!
